WSL
Chelsea were stunned as their 34-game unbeaten streak in the WSL came to an end on home soil. They went down 1-0 to Everton thanks to an early goal from Honoka Hayashi, who smashed home after being left unmarked on the back post. It was a smash-and-grab, as Chelsea had 30 shots on goal, with only six of them hitting the target. When they did, they met Toffees goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan, who had a Player of the Match performance. The London side also hit the crossbar twice and the post in the closing stages, and on another day, probably would have taken all three points.

They now sit six points behind league leaders Manchester City. They beat Leicester City 3-0 thanks to three goals in the final 16 minutes. Khadija Shaw added a brace with Brazilian Kerolin scoring deep into stoppage time. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur all kept the pace by earning three points. All three teams won 2-1 at home against Liverpool, West Ham United and Aston Villa, respectively. Tottenham needed a stoppage-time goal from Olivia Holdt to take all three points.
Brighton & Hove Albion were the final victors of Matchday 10, beating London City Lionesses 1-0 courtesy of a first-half goal from Kiko Seike. It was a very open game, with both sides having their moments, but the South Coast team moved within one point of the Lionesses.
WOMEN’S BUNDESLIGA
Bayern Munich crushed Frankfurt at the weekend, winning 5-0. Bayern remain the only team to have taken maximum points from their last five league games. They are six points ahead of VfL Wolfsburg in second place. The Wolfsburg women faced Freiburg. After an absence, Alexandra Popp was back on the pitch. Shortly before the end, she scored to make it 3-1. It is already her seventh goal this season.
Werder Bremen and Leverkusen are five and six points behind VfL, respectively. Bremen remain unbeaten for the sixth game in a row, securing a 1-0 victory against bottom-of-the-table Carl Zeiss Jena. Shortly before half-time, Bremen were awarded a penalty, which Larissa Mühlhaus confidently converted to move to the top of the scoring charts with eight goals – alongside Leverkusen's Vanessa Fudalla. Fudalla also scored from the penalty spot at the weekend against RB Leipzig. Leverkusen won the game 3-2 thanks to three early goals.
Hoffenheim secured a commanding 3-0 victory against Union Berlin. They never let the game slip from their grasp and deservedly took the next three points. Nuremberg lost 2-0 to SGS Essen. These are extremely important points for Essen in their battle against relegation.
DFB-POKAL
The quarter-finals of the DFB Cup have been drawn. Legendary coach Friedhelm Funkel acted as the draw master at the German Football Museum in Dortmund, and former player Nia Künzer was the draw supervisor.
The following matches will be played on 11 and 12 March 2026:

FOUNDING OF THE LEAGUE WITHOUT THE DFB
On 10 December, the ‘Frauen-Bundesliga FBL e.V.’ (Women's Bundesliga) will be founded. The whole thing has been driven forward in recent months by the 14 first division clubs in the Bundesliga. Originally, it was supposed to be a kind of joint venture between the German Football Association (DFB) and the Bundesliga clubs. Now, however, it has been decided to take the plunge alone – i.e., without the DFB and its investment of 100 million euros.
The clubs are disappointed that agreements already made with the German Football Association are not reflected in the contract materials from our point of view. For this reason, the founding act will take place without the involvement of the DFB, Axel Hellmann, spokesman for the board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fussball AG, is quoted as saying in a statement. It is still completely open whether and how they will continue to work with the DFB in the future.
The aim of establishing this league is to further professionalise German women's football and to organise it more collectively.
LIGA F
Barcelona needed two late goals to grab the win over UD Tenerife, despite dominating the game. It was the champions' first game back from international duty that, unfortunately, saw star player Aitana Bonmatí suffer a leg break. The home side had 24 shots on goal, none on target. The goals came in the 84th and 88th minutes with regular scorers Ewa Pajor and Alexia Putellas finding the net.
Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 1-0, leapfrogging them into second place. The goal came in the first half, Sociedad defender Ainhoa Vicente putting the ball into her own net. The away team deserved a point, but it was a valuable win for Las Blancas. Atletico Madrid failed to win for the second consecutive time, drawing 2-2 at home to Sevilla. They found themselves 2-0 down at half-time, two quick-fire goals from Raquel Morcillo and Rosa Marquez. After getting back on level terms, Atletico should have gone on to win the game, but had to settle for a point.
Madrid CFF earned a 5-2 win at Espanyol, and led 4-1 at half-time after falling behind after just two minutes. Danis midfielder Malou Rylov scored twice as they moved up to sixth place after their third consecutive win.
Levante continues to search for its first win of the season, losing 1-0 at Athletic Club. Eibar, Badalona, and Deportivo La Coruna all earned vital three points in the bottom half of the table.
SERIE A
The top match in Serie A ended in a draw. Juventus and AS Roma drew 1-1. Valentina Bergamaschi, a former Juve player, gave the hosts from the capital an early lead. After a weak start by Juve, the Bianconere had a few chances. But it wasn't until the 70th minute that Tatiana Pinto scored after strong work from Emma Stolen Godo.
This keeps Roma at the top of the table, with Juve now in third place. Como overtook the reigning champions thanks to a 1-0 win over Parma. Milan, Fiorentina and Inter were also victorious at the weekend. Milan won their head-to-head clash with Napoli – the two teams are now level on points in fifth and sixth place.
It's very close this year: only three points separate second place from seventh place. The situation is similar at the bottom of the table, where three points separate bottom-placed Ternana from Parma in ninth place.
ARKEMA PREMIÈRE LIGUE
OL Lyonnes winning run continued as they made it nine from nine, beating Dijon 3-0 away from home. Paris Saint-Germain continue to be the nearest challenger; their only loss came against their rivals. This week, they put five past Les Marseillaises, with Merveille Kanjinga scoring and assisting two in the 5-1 win.
Every team now has a win in the Première Ligue. RC Lens were the only team still winless going into Matchday 9, but they are no longer, as they beat relegation rivals Saint-Étienne 1-0. A first-half goal from Aude Gbedjissi was the difference as the home team went level on points with their opponents.
The top five all came out with the three points, and it looks set to be a great battle for the European spots. Paris FC, Nantes, and FC Fleury are all separated by five points as we near the halfway mark of the season.

NWSL
SALARY CAP AND TRINITY RODMAN
During the last transfer window, big NWSL stars Naomi Girma and Alyssa Thompson took the plunge and moved to Europe, and now Trinity Rodman, the league's poster girl, could follow suit. The 23-year-old's contract with the Washington Spirit has expired. Spirit had already made her a new offer – according to media reports, a multi-year contract worth several million dollars a year. However, the offer was not approved by league commissioner Jessica Berman. The reason: it violated ‘the spirit’ of the salary cap rule. Rodman was also accused of ‘circumventing the salary cap’.

Rodman's entourage is unwilling to accept this decision. However, we can only speculate about the player's next steps. It is no secret that she will be looking elsewhere.
‘Since there is no way to secure her fair market value within the NWSL, she is forced and motivated to look elsewhere,’ Mike Senkowski, the American's agent, told the CBS Morning Show. He also hinted that he already has more lucrative offers on the table – including from other clubs in the USA. He could be referring to the offer from DC Power in the Gainbridge Super League (an American professional women's football league with different wage regulations from the NWSL).
‘All I can say is that the club has done everything in its power – and more – to ensure that there is a way for Rodman to stay,’ Spirit owner Michele Kang told The Athletic.
HOW DOES THE SALARY CAP WORK?
In the NWSL, the salary cap will be gradually raised over the next five years. It currently stands at $3.3 million, will rise to $3.5 million next year, and will increase to $5.1 million by 2030. In addition, 10% of the revenue generated by the club will be added. Spirit wanted to use this 10% to justify Trinity Rodman's high salary, but the league considered the club's projections to be too high.
The clubs have to use this money to pay the wages of all their players. So if you spend a lot of money on a star player, there is less left for the others.
NEW TRAINER
NWSL club Bay FC has a new head coach: Emma Coates will take charge of the team next season. Gemma Davies will be her assistant. The Englishwoman previously coached the English national women's U23 team.
BUSINESS CORNER
MICHELE KANG WITH MEGA INVESTMENT
Michele Kang is investing US$55 million in research into women's sport. The US Soccer Federation has announced the launch of the Kang Women's Institute, which aims to improve women's sport through science and innovation. The focus will be on the training and well-being of female athletes.
It's not just about filling a gap in research. We want to create a future in which every player has the knowledge, support and opportunities to develop their full potential.
In its official statement, the association refers to analyses showing that currently only 6% of reports published in specialist journals relate exclusively to women. Women's teams still rely heavily on training methods that were actually designed for men. The disproportionately high number of injuries in women's sport clearly indicates that more research is needed in this area.
WORLD SEVENS FOOTBALL
The World Sevens Football exhibition tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has come to an end, with San Diego Wave taking home the $5 million prize money. The American women played the final against Tigres, champions of Mexico's Liga MX Femenil. They won 3–0, finishing the tournament undefeated.
